Gets its names from the high- pitched "whooping" sound characteristic of the disease. It is also known as "Pertussis" and is characterized by sneezing, n" congestion, tearing, loss of appetite, malaise and a hacking cough, often followed by an explosive cough that end in a high-pitched whoop. Immunization is generally given as a combination of vaccines against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTP or DTAP)
