CHICKEN POX

Also known as varicella is a very contagious viral disease characterized by fever.weakness and itchy, red rash that breaks out on the face, scalp, chest and back. The spots quickly fill with a clear fluid, rupture and turn crusty. Chicken pox in adults is more serious and may cause pneumonia and at times, death. In persons who have had chicken-pox, the virus can cause shingles (herpes zoster) later in life. An attenuated (weakened) live virus is available and recommended for all children or adults who have not had the disease.
